Dear Ms. Alderson:
Sound background in advertising… well trained… works well with others…
These keywords in your July 6 advertisement in the Times
describe the person you want, and I believe I am that person.
I have gain experience in every phase of retail advertising while working
for the Lancer, our college newspaper. I sold advertising, planned
layouts, and wrote copy. During the last two summers, I gained firsthand
experience working in the advertising department of Wunder & Son. I wrote a
lot of copy for Wunder, some of which O am enclosing for your inspections; you
will find numerous other examples on my web page at http://www.asu.edu/home/mjanek.htm.
I also did just about everything else there is to do in advertising work. I
enjoyed it, and I learned from it. This experience crearly helps me fit in and
contribute to the work in your office.
In my concentrated curriculum at the university, I studied marketing
with a specialization in advertising. I completed every course offered in
advertising and related fields. My honor grades give some evidence that I worked
hard and with sincerity. This educational background has definitely given me a
firm foundation and stimulated my ability to be creative in working for you.
Understanding the importance of being able to get along well with
people. I actively participated in Sigma Chi (social fraternity), the Race for
the Cure (breast cancer), and Pi Tau Pi (social fraternity). From the
experience gained in these associations, I am confident that I can fit in well
with the people in your advertising department.
As you can see from this description and the enclosed resume, I am clearly
qualified for a position in advertising. May I now meet with you to discuss this matter
further? You can reach me at janek@hotmail.com
or at 602-713-2199 to arrange a convenient time to talk about doing your
advertising work.
Sincerely,

Michael S. Janek
